Building a Peaceful
&
Tolerant Bangladesh

THE ROOT

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is one of many organizations looking to map and better understand the scope of the problem of violent extremism and respond with activities centered around common bonds shared values, and diverse Bangladeshi identity. This serves as a positive alternative to exclusionary appeals that underpin violence. The UN Secretary General’s Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism (PVE), gives UNDP a clear mandate to assist Bangladesh in developing tolerant and inclusive society programming.

THE JOURNEY TOWARDS TOLERANT & PEACEFUL BANGLADESH

The DKC, started in 2016, that seeks to bring together the youth in forming and creating narratives as well as platform ideas that promote peace, tolerance and diversity to actively counter hateful and divisive narratives. After the successful completion of the 2018 event in Chattogram, this year DKC was organized in Sylhet aimed to solve the following issue – “Digital Literacy”..

THE UNIQUE APPROACH TOWARDS INNOVATION

From day one of DKC teams of social entrepreneurs, programmers, grassroots leaders, designers, storytellers, students, and others compete in a fast-paced race-against-the-clock to imagine new digital platforms and tools that can promote the strength of Bangladesh’s diversity and promote peace.
